Gliding Manawatu (also known as the Wanganui Manawatu Gliding Club) is affiliated to Gliding New Zealand and operates on weekends and most public holidays, weather permitting, from the Feilding Aerodrome. The club is run by volunteers, including gliding instructors, tow pilots, engineers and ground crew, all appropriately qualified in their respective roles.
For trial flights and training we operate a state-of-the-art Glaser-Dirks DG1000 and a trusty Grob G103 Twin Astir. Both gliders have full dual controls and the advanced technologies associated with modern gliders. They offer the ultimate in soaring on silent wings.
The public are welcome to simply drive up and talk to one of our friendly and experienced club members to arrange a trial flight for that very day. Generally, you will get to go flying within the hour !! If you are interested in learning to glide, having the experience of a lifetime being towed by a 1960's topdressing aeroplane, relaxing in the delightful peace of soaring amongst the clouds and hunting for thermal activity then we have a deal for you.....
For an introduction to the sport of gliding, come and enjoy the thrill under the watchful eye of one of our qualified Glider Instructors at Taonui Airfield, Feilding, New Zealand.
