Gliding at Dannevirke - October 2010

October saw the end of some pretty stormy weather in the Manawatu and while the airfield at Taonui dried out, the club made it's way to the other side of the Ruahine Range for some great flying days out of Dannevirke. With super-long dry vectors, Dannevirke airfield was the perfect staging post to take advantage westerly wave set up by the persistent spring winds. Read the reports and view some great aerial photography from these excellent soaring days in our Pilot Stories section.

Doctor Dave Baldwin's Aviation Centre - Christmas Barbeque - 5 December 2009

Gliding Manawatu recently attended this fantastic event hosted by Dave Baldwin at his really cool hanger based at Palmerston North airfield.

There was a great turnout from the club members and a circuit flown over town by the DG-1000S on tow culminating in a low approach and overshoot of the grass stip generated heaps of interest.

A great evening was had by all and thanks go out to our intrepid aviators (Ross and Patrick in the DG, with Dave in the Pawnee) for flying the DG-1000S over; as well as all those who helped on the ground and took part in the festivities.

Ross Anderson's evening was made all the better by winning a flight in a helicopter. Visit the Photo Gallery for his photographs of the flight and more!
